According to an article on Insurancenewsnet.com, Health Care Costs in the US will rise 10 percent over the next 12 months. These projections were taken without calculating the effect that any type of Health Care Reform would have on rates. Surprisingly, these projected increases are down from last year’s rise in premiums. The article explained further that HMO and POS (Point of Sale) plans were expected to have the largest rise in premiums, with PPO and EPO estimated lower. Guilt causes a lot of us to do stupid things. We either give foolishly to the homeless with good intentions of helping, or we try to avoid the person in need altogether so that we don’t have to face our own consciences. It’s either that or we meet the guilt somewhere in the middle and talk to the person, but lie about the fact that we don’t have any money. It’s a commendable and a responsible thought of a Government to oversee the Health Care of their subjects, but not to deprive them of their choices. We live in a Free and Democratic Society and there should be a Freedom of choice for the citizens. There is an other way worth investigating: a System, that was in effect after the Wold War II (and perhaps still is) in Chile, South America, a Health Care system that used to accommodate the need of all citizens in that Country. The System may shed some light on our problem.
